If you have sustained a back injury do not hesitate to contact The Back Practice to arrange an appointment.
Whether your back pain is a long term condition or has just recently occurred we are confident we can help you at The Back Practice. Before attending your appointment at The Back Practice we recommend the following tips to ensure your comfort and prevent further injury:
Apply ICE to the painful area on your back for 20 minutes, up to 5 times a day – do not apply ice directly onto skin, wrap in a damp towel. Alternatively Biofreeze Gel or All Black n Blue (available at The Back Practice shop) is a handy alternative if on the go.
A course of light anti-inflammatory may be recommended to help settle your back pain and the extent of the injury. Contact your GP for advice and prescription.
Keep yourself active! Don't become bed-bound! Keep your back moving to avoid the spine and surrounding muscles from stiffening-up. Move within limits of pain, do not go through pain.
Tense stomach muscles to take the strain of your back if getting up from awkward positions.
Do not apply HEAT to your back if your back injury has recently occurred!
Therapists at The Back Practice are highly skilled in the art of assessment. During the consultation we will listen, look and ask questions to seek as much relevant information about your complaint. Using The Back Practice's specialised, unique assessment procedure we aim to expertly diagnose and treat your back or neck pain within this first treatment session.
Once diagnosis of your condition has been established, a treatment plan will be explained to you together with expected results and further advice.
